Facebook, recently, has become the most popular site in our country. Almost all people here, particularly young people, already have accounts of Facebook. Nowadays, most of people here who are in a Warnet must be visiting Facebook site. In fact, that site gives negative impacts to the visitors or what so-called Facebookers.

Firstly, the social interaction of the Facebookers in the real life declines. In fact, social interaction in the real life is more important than that in the Internet. A recent research shows that the ability in interacting with other people of a kid who actively goes out in the real life is improving better than that who spends more time for visiting Facebook site.

Secondly, Indonesian Facebookers do not use Facebook properly. They use it mostly just for fun, showing their friends what they are doing by updating their status, uploading most recent photos, or commenting their friends’ status that basically is not really important. In fact, those all just waste their time. Instead of those all, most of foreign people have used that site properly. They use it for advertising, practicing new languages, or discussing recent issues.

Therefore, as Indonesian young generation, we should change our mindset. We may remain visiting Facebook site, but we must use it properly. Or else, we should reduce our time for visiting that site and allocate it for other activities outside that are real and more important. There are many activities that are no longer done by children in recent times due to the massive development of technologies. Therefore, the role of parents and teachers are vital for the improvement of Indonesian young generation. (fila174)
